Configuring Your Home Network for Gaming, Telephony, and Other Shared Applications
Certain Internet software applications, including some games and telephony applications, use unique methods to communicate with the Internet and require a change to your home network. These applications, called "hosted applications," will be able to connect to the Internet only from a designated computer.
To adjust your HomePortal settings for these applications:
-
On the HomePortal Management Page at http://home.homeportal.2wire.net
, click the Home Network
tab.
The Home Network Management Page
-
On the page titled Access Your Home Network Devices,
you'll see a list of computers connected to your home
network.

To the right of the computer name, click on the link
labeled Edit firewall settings.

The Access Your Home Network
Devices Page
-
Next, you'll see the Edit Firewall Pass-Through
Settings page. Click the Select a Host Computer
pull-down menu and choose a computer you want to "host"
the application.
-
Highlight the application(s) you want to host on
the left and click the Add
button.
-
Once you are finished, click Done.
The game or other application should now have access
to the Internet. Remember that this application will
only have Internet access from the computer you have
just specified.
