Installing the PCMCIA Wireless Network Adapter in Windows XP

To install the PCMCIA wireless network adapter:
  1. Plug the adapter into your computer's USB port. The Found New Hardware Wizard will appear in the Windows System tray.

  2. Windows XP will install the driver for the Orinoco PCMCIA card.

  3. The device is already configured to work with your network so there is no need to run the Network Setup Wizard. Click the X in the upper-right corner of the pop-up window to close it.

  4. The Orinoco PCMCIA card will make a wireless connection with the HomePortal.

  5. In order to get an IP address from the HomePortal and browse the Internet, right-click on the icon of the two computers located in your Windows System tray, and choose View Available Wireless Networks.

  6. In the Network key field, type the encryption key that you specified for your HomePortal. Then, click Connect.

  7. The Orinoco PCMCIA card will be connected to the Internet through the HomePortal. You can now access the Internet through your Web browser.
